Creative Writing is an elective, one semester class in which students will research, read, and analyze multiple genres of writing in order to develop their own techniques and “voice.” While the focus will be on the creative, there will be heavy emphasis on conventional grammar, mechanics, and usage thereby granting the student permission to fully recognize creative originality. Students will be expected to create poetry, prose, personal, and dramatic writing and employ the necessary processes of revision and editing before finally publishing through various venues. Students will be expected to share work within the classroom and participate in peer reviews. Students will be required to produce one multi-genre research project and maintain a writing portfolio for the semester.
